I decided to try some night flying (it is dark) from RAF Biggin Hill in a Hurricane. Went OK, except 1) there is no navigation aids, 3) compass is unreadable (small and dark) and 3) no lights for airports (at least near London). OK, I got used to that and I decided to return to Biggin Hill for landing, got into pattern and all set to land with wheels down and flaps set; as I got near the ground on approach (about 50 feet) having retarded my throttle to near closed, the engine came on and I burst to 250 feet. Tried several times with same results.

I would assume that something is corrupted in the program but I don't know what.  Any ideas or help?

Not a clue. I can't remember landing at BH at night when I built the missions but I also can say I have never encountered that described event in any CFS3 before.
Still no luck from ETO devs?

I turned on CF# for the first time this year and did a quick combat free flight out of Biggin Hill at night. Took off fine circled around and landed with no problems at all.

OK, I'd better check more. Every seems like it was working fine until trying to land. Think I'll try try daytime and a different airport.

Let you know.

I tried more night landings at other airfields and was OK.

Tried Day landings at 7 airfields including Biggin Hill - all OK.

Here are the problems:

1) I can't crash on landing ... get bounce to 3000' and power added.
2) With acceptable sink rates all is OK. With high sink rate ... bounce to 3000' and power added no crash.  If I dive into the ground from altitude then I get a crash.
3) Terrain shows lots of red and orange (mostly red) structure breaks down and doesn't look like terrain.
4) I have reduced my screen resolution to 1600 x 900. Next I will reduce colors from 32 bit to 16 bit and try terrain again.

I have no idea of what the problem(s) are in  this installation.

I flew more missions today at 16bit color and reduced resolutioin, but it was no help to problem of RED terrain in patches. As you get your position closer to a geographical point the red dissappears.

Went to a litle used airfield, RAF Church Fenton, and on landing with a fairly high sink rate again ecperienced the problem of no crash but a bounce to 3000' and increased power.

I am stymed.

I have never had any of those problems in any CF3 and can not duplicate it in my current ETO.

I am at 1600X1050 32 bit

I am guessing this would draw a blank from the ETO devs as well but perhaps you could see if one will respond at SOH.

At your suggestion I contacted Grizzly50 at SOH and he gave me several very fine suggestions that solved my problems and mostly it was caused by an inadequate video card and need for some more RAM. Thnaks to him and you I am at peace with the ETO Expansion.
